This policy explains how Young Futures Digital handles personal information in connection with this website and with correspondence you send us. We have written it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate, because a privacy policy nobody reads protects nobody.

For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, Young Futures Digital Limited is the data controller for personal data processed through this website and through correspondence with us.

2Scope of this policy

This policy covers the website at youngfuturesdigital.co.uk and email correspondence with us. Separate privacy information is provided for any product, application or training programme we operate where different processing applies. Where we act as a data processor for a client — for example when building or maintaining software on their behalf — that client’s own privacy notice governs the personal data in question, and our processing is set out in the contract between us.

3Information we collect

3.1 Information you give us

This website has no contact form, no account system and no login. The only information you give us directly is what you choose to include when you email us — typically your name, your email address, your organisation, and the content of your message.

3.2 Information collected automatically

We do not operate analytics, advertising or tracking technologies on this website. We do not build visitor profiles and we do not sell data to anyone.

Like almost all websites, the hosting infrastructure that serves these pages may create standard server logs, which can include IP address, the date and time of a request, the page requested, and browser user-agent information. These logs are generated for security and reliability purposes and are held by our hosting provider under its own retention arrangements. We do not use them to identify individual visitors.

6Cookies, storage and analytics

This website does not set tracking, advertising or analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or any comparable third-party measurement service, and there are no social media tracking pixels on these pages.

This site does not store anything on your device. If you switch between the light and dark colour themes, that choice is held only in your browser’s memory for the current page view and is discarded as soon as you navigate away or close the tab. Nothing is written to cookies, local storage or session storage, and nothing about your theme choice is transmitted to us.

Web fonts on this site are served by third-party font providers (Fontshare, operated by Indian Type Foundry, and Google Fonts). When your browser requests a font file, that provider necessarily receives your IP address and standard request information in order to serve the file. We do not receive any data from this request.

We do not sell personal data. We share it only where necessary:

With service providers who process data on our behalf under contract — for example email hosting and website hosting providers.
With professional advisers such as accountants or legal advisers, where relevant.
Where required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the safety of a person — including where a safeguarding disclosure obliges us to act.

8International transfers

Our suppliers may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to ensure an appropriate safeguard is in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

9How long we keep information

We keep email correspondence for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was sent, and then for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping. In practice: general enquiries that do not lead anywhere are deleted within 24 months; records relating to contracts, invoicing and tax are kept for at least six years as required by UK law. Server logs are retained for short periods by our hosting provider.

10Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls on our systems, multi-factor authentication on business accounts, and the principle of collecting as little data as possible in the first place. No system is perfectly secure, but minimising what we hold materially reduces what can be lost.

11Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

Request access to a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Request rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Request erasure of your data in certain circumstances.

12Children

This website is aimed at adults — commissioners, educators, employers and partner organisations — and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through it. Our education and training work involves young people, and where that work requires any processing of children’s personal data it is carried out under a separate agreement with the school, service or organisation responsible, with appropriate safeguards and privacy information provided at the time.
